Teach You how to distinguish Calcium Chloride Dihydrate from Calcium Chloride Anhydrous.

Hello, come to consult our products !

Calcium Chloride, a salt composed of the elements Chlorine and Calcium, the chemical formula CaCl2, colorless cubic crystal, white or off-white, granular, spherical, irregular granular, powder. Odourless, slightly bitter taste. It is typically an ionic halide and is a white solid at room temperature. Hygroscopicity is strong, easy to be deliquescence in the air. It is soluble in water and gives off a lot of heat at the same time. Its aqueous solution is slightly alkaline.

What are the differences between Calcium Chloride Anhydrous and Calcium Chloride Dihydrate?

Calcium Chloride is divided into Calcium Chloride Anhydrous and Calcium Chloride Dihydrate. It is classified according to the form of calcium chloride molecules in substances.

Appearance: Anhydrous Calcium Chloride is generally spherica/Prill, 2-6 mm in diameter, and in powder form. Calcium chloride dihydrate is generally flake, Calcium Chloride flake thickness 1-2 mm.In terms of color, the higher the purity, the whiter the color, and the lower the purity, the lower the whiteness.

Calcium Content: the pure content of Calcium Chloride anhydrous ,calcium chloride content is more than 90% or 94%min, calcium chloride content in calcium chloride dihydrate is 74% or 77%.

Water content: there is basically no water in anhydrous calcium chloride, only a small amount of external moisture (about a few percentage points). Each calcium chloride molecule in calcium chloride dihydrate exists in the form of two crystal water. The higher water content in the substance does not mean the quality is bad, but only a form of the substance.

Although the physical properties of anhydrous calcium chloride and calcium chloride dihydrate are different, they are basically the same in terms of chemical properties and uses.

Main uses of Calcium Chloride:

1. Used as drilling fluid, oil well completion fluid and dehydrating fluid of petrochemical industry in petroleum exploration. At present, Calcium Chloride Anhydrous is mainly used in the field of oil drilling. In the Middle East, the U.S. and Canada markets prefer anhydrous prill/pellet calcium chloride, while the rest of the markets mostly use anhydrous calcium chloride powder.

2, used for nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride and other gases drying.

3, the use of calcium chloride melting heat dissipation can be used for road snow remover. The markets of Japan, Korea, the United States and Canada purchase a large amount of calcium chloride dihydrate flake every year as snow melting agent.

4, the production of alcohol, ester, ether and acrylic resin used as a dehydrating agent.

5. Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigerant for refrigerators and ice making.

6, can accelerate the hardening of concrete and increase the cold resistance of building mortar, is a good building antifreeze.  In addition, the construction industry can also be used as an early strength agent, improve the strength of concrete, life coating coagulant.Customers in this field use calcium chloride dihydrate solid.

7. The demand of aquaculture for calcium supplements in aquatic products is high in South-East Asian countries. ToptionChem exports a lot of CaCl2.2H2Oto Southeast Asian countries every year.

8. Rubber industry as latex coagulant.

9. used as a protective agent and refining agent for aluminum and magnesium metallurgy.

10. used as port antifogging agent and road dust collector, fabric fire prevention agent.
